I was looking for an upgrade to the cheap board bag that came with my iSUP (different manufacturer), but that might also be multi-functional, and useful given my own personal other hobbies. From the pics/specs on Honu webpage, I couldn't quite discern all the details I wanted--in addition to obvious things like the dimensions, I was mostly focused on the quality of the shoulder straps, but I took a chance, as the price was very reasonable.
When it arrived (very quickly/promptly!), I was skeptical of two things:
1) just by eye, the bag looked like it might be too small (my board's width = 32")
2) the shoulder straps didn't seem particularly thick, so I figured not that comfortable
But In short, I was clearly wrong!! First, the bag dimensions were exactly as advertised (and I am evidently bad at guesstimation), with ample room for my board, pump, leash, and fins. As a bonus, it also can fit more gear, including my long freedive fins--on the inside (I sometimes snorkel/dive in conjunction with paddling). The material and zippers are beefy, which will suit my uses, and the placement of the wheels (on the 'outside' opposite of the backpad) seems more ergonomical than some other bags which can sometimes bump into the back of the legs (like my wife's board bag). The four clips/buckles are helpful, not only for compression but also for carrying gear (paddles, fishing rod, etc.). The outer main zip pocket has good dimensions , and I appreciate the mesh side pocket too. Handles are sturdy and placed in good positions (including the plastic luggage-style handle on the bottom).
Second, the straps are nice and wide, which means a really comfortable distribution of the weight on the shoulders. Compared to my wife's board bag, which is a high-quality one too, this one is (I find) more comfortable.
One potential design tweak for the future is to simply add some bungee cord on the outside; but that was easy enough for me to do/mod myself--I just ran some bungee through the existing loops (4 points) for the four clips/buckles. This is great for wet stuff, and accommodating my packing afterthoughts.
Very satisfied! And if I need another bag (for the family's third board), this will be top of my list.
