Second Bondi!

I recently bought a second Bondi, as my first was shared with a friend when we originally planned to use it on our separate holidays.

He eventually decided to buy me out because he wanted to keep it for himself — he actually preferred surfing it to his hardboard SUP!

We had a minor issue with the first board, but Mark and his team sorted it out quickly and without any fuss.

I'm still recommending the Bondi to friends and fellow SUP surfers whenever I'm at the beach. It turns heads when people realise it's an inflatable, and I often end up explaining that it's not your usual iSUP — it's a Honu!

Thanks, Mark, for creating such an incredible board.

When we set out to design the Bondi, the goal was absolute: create an inflatable that performs like a hardboard, with zero compromise. Eighteen months of development, countless prototypes, and obsessive attention to every detail...From board-specific asymmetrical fin boxes to the precise rocker profile.  The result is a board capable of handling surf of any size with complete confidence.

Available in 8'8" and 9'5", the Bondi is just 4" thick and built with X-woven drop-stitch and Honu's exclusive Welded Carbon Rails. An aggressive outline and rocker work in harmony with a hard PVC rail edge that runs from just ahead of the side fins around the tail. The result? Steep take-offs, powerful bottom turns, and vertical carving that feels shockingly close to glass.

The Futures-compatible fin system includes high-performance Volan fiberglass fins in a twin + 1 setup. Run all three for maximum stability and drive, or pull the center fin for a fast, loose, skatey feel that advanced riders crave. One board, infinite possibilities—whether you're chasing head-high barrels or dawn patrol runners.

This is one outstanding surfing iSUP

The new Bondi is a real ripper! We heard this board was coming about a year ago, from the Honu designer Mark Travers. So we’ve been eagerly waiting! He said it was going to be a new board to take inflatable SUP surfing to the next level. And now having used the Bondi, lets just say this board didn’t disappoint!

Inflatable SUP Surf Mastery

Having recently put the Bondi iSUP Surf board by HONU through a test drive, I’m excited to share my thoughts. This board stands out not just because it’s an inflatable board designed specifically for surfing – obviously offering the benefits of portability – but because it is evident that HONU CEO and designer Mark Travers is an engineer at heart, as the board features several premium exclusive innovations, particularly in the rails and fin department, which are real differentiators in the inflatable SUP surf segment.

AGGRESSIVE ROCKER & OUTLINE

The Bondi's rocker and outline are built for committed surfing. An aggressive nose rocker handles steep drops without pearling, while the pulled-in tail and hard rail edge let you snap tight, vertical turns with minimal effort. The slimmed-down nose and tail reduce swing weight, giving you direct, instant response when you load the rail. Whether you're carving bottom turns or hitting the lip, the board goes exactly where you point it—fast, precise, and locked in.

FEELS LIKE A HARDBOARD

The Bondi doesn't just mimic hardboard performance—it delivers it. The 4" construction, X-woven drop-stitch, and welded carbon rails combine to create a board so stiff and responsive, you'll forget it's inflatable. From the moment you stand up, you feel the direct connection to the water: every weight shift translates instantly into movement, rail transitions are crisp and predictable, and the board tracks through turns with zero flex or lag. Available in 8'8" and 9'5", the Bondi is purpose-built for riders who refuse to compromise.

A PREMIUM SURFING SUP

The Bondi arrives ready for adventure. A premium roller backpack crafted from 1680D ripstop nylon protects your investment and makes travel effortless, with reinforced handles and organized internal pockets. The included safety leash keeps you connected in challenging conditions, while the high-performance Volan fins deliver the precise control and drive serious surfers demand. Everything you need to chase waves anywhere in the world—no compromises, no afterthoughts, just a complete travel surfing SUP package built to the same exacting standards as the board itself.

4" Deck

At just 4" thick, the Bondi matches the profile of a composite hardboard—not the bulky 6" construction common in most iSUPs. This slimmer profile lowers your center of gravity, putting you closer to the water for better board feel and more responsive control. You'll notice sharper turns, quicker rail-to-rail transitions, and the confidence to commit to steep drops and powerful bottom turns.

Midsize Funboard Outline

The Bondi's outline blends the paddle power of a longboard with the maneuverability of a shortboard. A fuller nose and balanced midsection provide the buoyancy to catch waves early, while the pulled-in tail and moderate rocker let you carve tight arcs and commit to critical sections. It's a versatile shape that handles everything from mellow rollers to overhead sets without compromise.

Solid PVC Rail Edge

A solid PVC rail edge runs from just ahead of the side fins around the entire tail section. This hard edge breaks water tension for increased speed and allows you to carve dynamic, committed turns at the top and bottom of the wave face, delivering the sharp, responsive turns you'd normally only expect from a high-performance hardboard, not an inflatable.

Twin + 1 Volan Fins

The Bondi includes a complete set of high-performance Volan fins in a twin + 1 configuration. Run it as a twin for fast, loose, skatey turns that let advanced riders push the limits. Add the center fin for extra stability and drive when conditions demand it. One board, multiple setups—tune your ride to match your style and the surf.

Heavy Duty Roller Backpack

The material is 1680D ripstop nylon, which is extremely durable and repairable. One of the first things you will notice when you put the bag on your back is how chunky the shoulder straps, waist belt, and buckles are. Everything is over-engineered and designed to last.

Inside the Honu Bondi:

Performance Built Into Every Layer

The rail construction is where engineering meets obsession. We heat-and-pressure weld 3K carbon fiber directly into the inner rail layer—the most critical component for a leak-proof, rigid board. It's a demanding process requiring two experienced technicians working in perfect sync to ensure the welded strip runs flawlessly around the entire perimeter.

The result? The stiffest possible rail layup, with leak and return rates so low they're almost non-existent. An outer rail layer is then bonded for added rigidity and abrasion resistance, ensuring the board performs flawlessly session after session, year after year.
