Byron 10'6 (2024)

I bought the sup during Black Friday. I managed to take it out for several times, mainly in the ocean or estuary. I'd love to give river a go. I usually top it to 18psi. The inflatable is so solid that it didn't even flinch when my boyfriend and I (close to 130kg) were both on it in the ocean one time.

After comparing Honu with other reputable brands, being a 5ft petite build, I decided to go with Byron significantly for its weight. it is only 7kg. It is also one of the very few thinner inflatables on the market. Minimising the weight I am taking, together with my dog and gears with me, it is a no brainer to go for Byron.

The design of the board is aesthetic, sleek and clean, just the way I like it. Designs on some sups on the market can be quite overwhelming.

I find myself too weak to pump it with the hand pump. I have a portable/rechargeable e-pump, it makes inflating and deflating so easy and I can just carry the backpack closer to the water and sort the sup out there. I highly recommend it.

I do notice the paint on the folded edge came off but again it is minor and cosmetic. It does not affect or diminish the performance and quality of the sup. Overall, it suits my lifestyle and needs. I'm glad I get to invest in myself and pursue a new hobby. In the future, I'd love to see a range of sup accessories that are also back by your sustainable ethos. Thank you!

Before buying any product that requires a significant investment, I research it carefully and read as many reviews as possible, including owner reviews.

I did this with Honu and was impressed with what I read. I then contacted Mark to work out the best board for me and he responded quickly and helpfully.

When I took the Byron for its first paddle on my local river, I was very impressed. It looked great and felt stiff, stable, fast, and responsive. Even the basic paddle that I bought with the board is great. Because it was so much fun and the prices during the Black Saturday sale were very reasonable, I decided to buy another for my wife so that we can paddle together. She loves it too.

While I haven’t used the Byron in the ocean yet I’m looking forward to trying it in small clean waves, as well as exploring less accessible parts of the coast on calm flat days.

The only minor hiccup that we had was that the included board bags arrived with some soiling, however Mark immediately replaced them.

So, in a nutshell, I’m a very satisfied customer and I hope this review is of some use to anyone else considering purchasing a Honu.

I was using a foam board, which was very stable, but wanted something with a better glide so I could go faster and surf better. The Byron does both well. I find very little loss of stability--I still use it in the open ocean, even on rough days. However, the increase in glide speed is significant. For longer paddles, I decreased my average speed by over 2 min/mile. And that glide also gives me much more ability to catch waves. And the extremely light weight makes it easy to run down to the beach when I see dolphins passing my condo. Finally, service has been very responsive--when it first arrived, it was missing the fin and tether. Mark at Honu jumped right on that and gave me an upgrade immediately
