We support the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network

If we've learned anything in 2020, it's that we are capable of doing better for the sake of our planet.  While climate change and social injustice are two massive issues facing the world, the Australian bushfires, coronavirus and the events unfolding around the death of George Floyd (& countless other people of colour) have presented huge opportunities for social change.  We believe that we can reduce our negative impact on the planet and show greater love and respect to all the people living on it. We also believe the issues of climate change and race inequality are fundamentally linked, as no successful climate action can occur without progressing social justice in parallel.

With this in mind, Honu is proud to be a supporter of the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network. Seed is Australia’s first Indigenous youth-­led climate network and they are also members of the 1% for the Planet network. Seed are building a movement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people for climate justice with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. Their vision is for a just and sustainable future with strong cultures and communities, powered by renewable energy.
